JOINT COMMITTEE OF INEC AND SIECs TO HARMONISE WARDS, NOMENCLATURES
A joint committee of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECs) has been set up to address the creation of additional polling units and electoral wards, harmonise electoral wards with existing ones as well as harmonise nomenclatures being interchangeably used by INEC and SIECs.The setting up of the joint committee followed a one-day meeting between INEC and SIECs at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.
In a statement signed by the INEC Secretary, Alhaji A.A. Kaugama, the resolve to set up the Committee was informed by the need to ensure clarity and harmony on crucial nomenclatures such as wards, electoral districts and registration areas.
The Committee has four weeks within which to complete its assignment.
